Creation of Digipak - Back Cover

I took some photos down at the Waterfront in Ipswich based on our idea. Our star was sitting with his back facing the camera with boats in the background. I think it has a very calm feel which is similar to the artists style and I think that it fits in with the genre.
I made a draft back cover to see what it would look like with the logo of the record label however, we had to create our own record company logo due to copyright issues.

My draft-

I used 'Island Records' for my draft as I knew it wasn't a hugely well known record label, this is what I based my own record company logo on.

My final draft of the back cover -

After looking at other digipaks I made the back cover of mine a similar style and I used drop shadows to make the font stand out and I also created a lens flare on photoshop to make the image more conventional.

Digipak

This is my digipak that I have created on photoshop. I started by getting the template online and fitting my images in the correct places. I have used Ipswich docks as a main location so that this fits in with my video as quite a lot of my video was filmed there. It also fits in with genre of my video. I am pleased with my digipak however I don't think that the image of the shoes fits in very well with the rest of my other images but it does have a link with my advert. I have tried to make it conventional by using my artist's logo which I created in photoshop and including lyrics to my artist's songs that will be on the rest of his album. I have also added barcodes to the back cover of my album to make it more realistic.

Advert

My Advert

My advert doesn't quite fit in with the style or genre of my video, however I wanted to give my star more of a personality and character. I also wanted him to stand out against the background so I made sure the background consisted of a high contrast. Also as he is wearing all black he will again stand out against the high contrasted back ground. I originally  didn't plan for my star to wear the coat and I just planned for him to wear the trainers to give him more of a slightly 'edgy' look. I also wanted him to wear the black trousers and shirt because it would stand out better and I also wanted him to wear the tie loosely because I didn't want the costume to be the same as it is in the video. Although I didn't plan to have my star wear the coat I thought it looked a lot better and again made him stand out more.

I wanted to include other tracks that were going to be included on the album so that it would intrigue the audience. I picked up this convention from other adverts. I also included the album cover so that the audience would know what album to look for when purchasing it. I wanted the name of my artist to be bold and eye catching so people will know who he is and I included the name of the album so people can know what they're looking for.

Final Cut

My Final Cut

This is my final cut of my A2 music video. I think that I have captured the idea I wanted and I feel that it is very conventional and fits in with the genre of the song I have chosen. Although I have used a lot of conventional features such as, rhythmic editing, close ups, lens flares etc, there are many things I need to improve. I plan to improve the use of camera movement whilst my artist is lip synching as the camera is completely still and can get slightly boring to watch. Also a lot of the shots are out of focus where I haven't managed to put the camera back in focus after using the pulled focus effect. I also think there needs to be more direct address such as my star looking into the camera a lot more which will create more of a connection with the audience.
